In the fall of 2021, at the invitation of Cosmin Manolescu and as part of the “Private Bodies” umbrella project, Cristina Lilienfeld created the solo “Private Self” which was hosted in 4 apartments.

The show “Private Self” works with the concept of border, whether we are talking about the limits of the body, of the space we are in, of our memory, or of the emotional. I was interested in exploring the container to discover the content, a sensitive, personal, sometimes fragile content that is exposed to the viewer. How do I make the invisible visible in the context of a private space, a space that opens its borders generously to me? Offering the same generosity. ”

Cristina
The show takes place in private homes for one person, a family, or a group of up to 4-5 friends. Pets are welcomed. The following events will take place throughout 2022 with an appointment at lilienfeldcristina@gmail.com.

“I love strong moments like Private Self  that become personal for the viewer aswell. It was exactly what I needed these days.” spectator

The project started from the performance  “Private show” created in 2000 by Cosmin Manolescu, the first show in which he expressed his interest in connecting with the audience, an emotional, sensorial connection. This is why he thought of offering the show in a privileged space, where each of them would have the opportunity to have their own private show. Created for a single spectator and lasting 15 minutes, the piece was presented for the first time at the Biennial of Visual Arts “Periferic” in Iasi, then played until 2004 in various venues in Bucharest, Beirut, San Diego, and later a version with two performers, which was presented at Bassano del Grappa and in Bucharest.
